Community benefit and healthy food: Massachusetts Roundtable
Jun 27 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Please join us for the “Community benefit and healthy food: Massachusetts roundtable” on June 27, 2018, in Worcester, MARegister today.
Across the country, hospitals are recognizing the vital link between healthy food access and population health, and they are putting their community benefit resources to work on solutions. Inspired by this growing commitment to community health, Health Care Without Harm’s Healthy Food in Health Care program conducted a national research project with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to explore how hospital investments are shaping the community food environment.
This roundtable discussion will highlight our research, resources, and regional examples of best practice. The event will:
  • Introduce participants to the “Delivering community benefit: Healthy food playbook.”
  • Feature presentations from UMass Memorial Medical Center, Cooley Dickinson Health Care, and Boston Medical Center about their unique approaches to understanding and addressing food access issues in their communities and their work with community partners.
  • Highlight changes in Massachusetts, with Ben Wood of the Massachusetts Dept. of Health and Elana Brochin of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, discussing updates to the state’s guidelines for community benefit and determination of need.
Lunch will be served directly following the meeting at 12 pm where you can continue networking with other community benefit professionals and community partners.
